Vastelaovend in Mestreech

Vastelaovend in Mestreech (Carnival in Maastricht). Some carnival themed paintings made by Nop Briex. Those paintings give me the James Ensor feeling.

"Red, Yellow and Green. Carnival big band Vreug en Neugter marching in the Groete Staat", Maastricht. Acryl and oil on panel, 40 x 50 cm

"Carnival in the Grote Gracht (Grand Canal)", Maastricht. Re-action painting on the version of Claude Monet, Rue Montorgueil, Paris: "Festival of 30 June 1878". Oil on wood, 50 x 80 cm

"Vastelaovend guides the people", Maastricht. Re-action painting on the version of Eugène Delacroix, Paris: "Freedom guides the people". Oil on wood, 50 x 40 cm
